Our Story

Coating, usually the last mile of the manufacturing process, was not always appreciated for the craft it is today. Go back as recently as the 1990’s, and manufacturers often wanted a paint job done fast, regardless of its aesthetics and protective finish. Today, it is a different story. In a world where things are increasingly visual, and quality appearances matter, our customers understand that crafting a beautiful looking final product is not optional. It is essential: to your end user and to your brand.

In 1994, our founder Ahmad Akrami was building his second startup NexStar Automation, which created industrial automation robots used in everything from food manufacturing to pharmaceutical production. In the final stage of production, the coating process of NexStar robots (both the physical shell and PCB boards) was nightmarish. People who rendered this service were operating out of either their garage or the boonies. Quality control standards were non-existent. And ultimately, shoddy jobs made NexStar’s products appear cheap and even non-functional.

So in 1994, Industrialex was born. In partnership with Joe Triolo, who had 20 years prior experience in liquid and powder coating, Industrialex set to formalize this aspect of the manufacturing process as a white glove service. Over 30 years, the company acquired its most significant competitors, hired the best in the business, served bigger and more diverse customers, and entered new service lines.

Today, Industrialex stands as the premier coating company in Colorado and one of the largest in the western U.S. Our customers span every industry and come from every background. For all of them, we have been partners in making their envisioned products a finished reality.
